KKN Gurugram Desk | The Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 are set to be one of the most intense and closely-watched political battles in the national capital. As voters prepare to cast their ballots on February 4, 2025, the election will see a contest between 699 candidates across 70 constituencies. The battle for power is fiercely contested between three major political parties: the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Congress.

This election holds particular significance as it marks the first electoral test for Arvind Kejriwal after his resignation as Chief Minister of Delhi. Kejriwal stepped down following allegations of corruption, making this election a crucial one for his political career. The AAP is seeking a third consecutive term in power, while the BJP aims to break its 26-year electoral drought in Delhi. Congress, once a dominant force in the city under the leadership of Sheila Dikshit, hopes to make a comeback and regain its lost ground.

Key Electoral Battles to Watch in Delhi Assembly Elections 2025:

Here are some of the most high-profile constituencies and key political clashes to watch out for in Delhi Assembly Elections 2025:

1. New Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal vs Parvesh Verma vs Sandeep Dikshit

The New Delhi constituency will witness a prestigious contest, as Arvind Kejriwal seeks to retain his seat. Kejriwal has been the MLA from New Delhi since 2013 and has won the seat with significant margins in past elections. In 2020, he secured the seat with a 21,687-vote margin. However, he faces strong competition from Parvesh Verma of the BJP and Sandeep Dikshit of Congress, both of whom are sons of former Chief Ministers. This battle will be crucial in determining the future of AAP’s leadership in Delhi.

2. Kalkaji: Atishi vs Alka Lamba vs Ramesh Bidhuri

The Kalkaji constituency will see a high-profile fight between Atishi, the AAP candidate and Delhi’s former Education Minister, Alka Lamba from Congress, and Ramesh Bidhuri from BJP. Atishi, who won this seat in the 2020 elections by a margin of 11,393 votes, is seeking re-election. The contest here is expected to be a close one, as all three candidates are well-known in their respective parties.

3. Jangpura: Manish Sisodia vs Sardar Tarvinder Singh Marwah vs Farhad Suri

Manish Sisodia, the former Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, will contest from the Jangpura constituency, which has been a stronghold of AAP since 2015. Sisodia is facing Sardar Tarvinder Singh Marwah from BJP and Farhad Suri from Congress. The outcome of this battle will be significant for AAP’s future in Delhi, especially given Sisodia’s role in shaping the party’s policies in education and health.

4. Malviya Nagar: Somnath Bharti vs Satish Upadhyay vs Jitendra Kumar Kochar

In Malviya Nagar, Somnath Bharti of AAP, who has won this seat three times, will face off against Satish Upadhyay from BJP and Jitendra Kumar Kochar from Congress. This seat has traditionally been a stronghold for AAP, and Bharti will be aiming for another victory.

5. Chhatarpur: Brahm Singh Tanwar vs Kartar Singh Tanwar vs Rajender Singh Tanwar

In Chhatarpur, the Battle of Tanwars will unfold as Brahm Singh Tanwar from AAP competes against Kartar Singh Tanwar from BJP and Rajender Singh Tanwar from Congress. Rajender Singh Tanwar, who was a member of AAP until 2020, switched allegiance to BJP and is now attempting to retain his seat.

6. Patparganj: Avadh Ojha vs Ravinder Singh Negi vs Anil Chaudhary

Patparganj has been held by Manish Sisodia since 2013, but now Avadh Ojha, an AAP candidate and a well-known UPSC tutor, is contesting the seat. He faces Ravinder Singh Negi from BJP and Anil Chaudhary from Congress. This contest will be crucial for AAP’s hold on the area.

7. Ballimaran: Imran Hussain vs Haroon Yusuf vs Kamal Bagri

In Ballimaran, a key seat in Chandni Chowk, Imran Hussain of AAP will face Haroon Yusuf from Congress and Kamal Bagri from BJP. This seat will be particularly interesting due to the decisive role of Muslim voters in the area.

8. Okhla: Amanatullah Khan vs Braham Singh vs Ariba Khan

Amanatullah Khan, the sitting MLA from Okhla, who has won the seat for two consecutive terms, will face a challenge from Brahm Singh of BJP and Ariba Khan of Congress. This contest is significant for AAP, as Khan is one of the party’s most prominent Muslim leaders in Delhi.

9. Shakurbasti: Satyendar Jain vs Karnail Singh vs Satish Luthra

In Shakurbasti, Satyendar Jain, an influential AAP leader, will face Karnail Singh from BJP and Satish Luthra from Congress. This constituency has been an AAP stronghold, and Jain will be aiming for another victory.

10. Rohini: Vijender Gupta vs Pradeep Mittal vs Sumesh Gupta

Rohini has been a strong constituency for BJP, with Vijender Gupta hoping for a hat-trick of victories. He faces Pradeep Mittal from AAP and Sumesh Gupta from Congress. This seat will be one of the most competitive in the upcoming Delhi Assembly Elections.

What’s at Stake in the Delhi Elections 2025?

The Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 will be crucial for all three major political parties:

  • AAP seeks to continue its governance for a third consecutive term, despite Kejriwal’s resignation as CM amid corruption charges.
  • BJP aims to end a 26-year electoral drought in Delhi and capture the capital for the first time since 1998.
  • Congress is looking to make a comeback and regain its foothold in the city it once dominated under the leadership of Sheila Dikshit.

The stakes are high, and the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 will undoubtedly reshape the political landscape of the national capital. As the results unfold on February 8, the fate of Delhi’s next government will be decided by these intense electoral contests.
